Tommy Handley's Page
Perhaps Britain's most famous wartime broadcaster (apart form, perhaps, Winston Churchill) Tommy Handley presided over the fast moving and refreshingly zaney ITMA (It's That Man Again) a hugely successful BBC radio programme that ran for most of the 1940's until Handley's untimely death in January 1949. Tommy's career sprang into lihfe in the early 1920's and he enjoyed success in the halls and on radio and turned out a large number of records for his many fans. His humour was built upon his high speed use of often excruciating puns and he could handle a script supremely well, but was always ready to deviate with inspired ad-libs as he jousted with his fellow cast memebers.
