David Whitfield's Page

Whitfield enjoyed some 20 British chart hits between 1953 and 1960 and was very much a product of the early fifties in his almost operatic style. He was more popular with older generations rather than teenagers but maintained that popularity through live performance right up till his death in 1980 in Australia. His first chart hit in 1953 was - The Bridge of Sighs - whilst his biggest hit - Cara Mia - came in 1954 and even made it strongly into the US charts paving the way for more British successes.
